FXMOD - Star Conqueror (simply called FXMOD or HWFX) was a Homeworld 2 mod adding several new playable races, such as the Taiidan and the Progenitors, and improving various aspects of the game itself.

History

First mention of the FXMOD was on the 25th of September 2006, on the 3rd of October 2006 the first downloadable version was published with number 1.71. However it soon became known to have a descriptions bug, and two days later the proper version was released, and among fans it become known as 1.71.1. Version 1.72 was released 9 February 2007, for almost a year there were no publicly available versions released, however the popularity of the mod increased and in the end version 1.72 was one of the most popular mods amongst fans. The next version was Chinese-only, released on 30th December 2007 under number 1.8. The english version was released on the 5th of February 2008, it was 1.81. Version 1.83 contained new resource systems: Crystal for Kadeshi and Power for Progenitors.

FXMOD - Star Conqueror adds races from the original homeworld game, that is Progenitors, Kadeshi, Taiidan, Turanic Raiders and Bentusi. It also expands already existing ones, mainly by adding additional starships. Other additions are 2 new gameplay modes including 10 battle missions, and 19 maps in pvp mode. A new menu, with hideable buttons, and a ship gallery. Also several new special effects and sounds were added. There were also made several minor changes in the game itself, to improve balance and gameplay.
