Help:Verification
Talk0this wiki
Verification is sometimes required for content of articles. when you will see such mark: [citation needed] and you know source of that information - you should add explanation, or source of it in discussion page of article.
Best way to verify materials is to put direct quotes from game, or books. Also references to pages in books, game manuals, or other printable media are possible.
Inline source declaration
Edit
It is possible to add inline source informations, this are marked with small SSource: this is sample source letter, when you'll hover mouse on it - source will appear. To create such source information you must use {{in-source}} template. There are various mthods to use in-source template, you can see full list of them, or pick most common:
- find your source, in this example we will use Homeworld Historical and Technical Briefing.
- type text in article, and after that write: {{in-source|hhtb}}
- as a result (in article preview for example) you will see: your textSSource: Homeworld Historical and Technical Briefing and some more text
- hhtb is shortcut of Technical Brief, now you may expand your template, so that it would show page, on which exact informations are. Add to your template parameter |pg=14 - this way, your template will look like that: {{in-source|hhtb|pg=14}}
- when you'll preview your article you will get: your textSSource: Homeworld Historical and Technical Briefing
page 14 and some more text - that's all, source of this fragment is verified.
There are also other shortcuts you can use in template to display sources, as same as you can put direct link to source book / game page by simply typing link to it, instead of shortcut (but codes are preferred). Other popular shortcuts: Homeworld: Cataclysm manual - hwcm ; Homeworld Historical and Technical Briefing - hhtb ; History of Hiigara: Prelude to the End Times - hhpet
Providing sources of fragments isn't necessary when article is whole written from one source, but if there is most of it from one source, and short parts are from other - it's good to point which one are this by using {{in-source}} template.
