The Legacies series, is a fan fiction series started by DeepChrome, mostly taking place after Homeworld 2 but also including short stories and a novel set years before the Vaygr War. As of now there are three main novels, two short stories, and one spin-off novel. All except for the spin-off have been written by DeepChrome.
The main trilogy follows young Noreena Somtaaw as she rises from an insubordinate worker engineer to becoming Kiith Somtaaw's sole wirehead. In the course of the story she recieves training from the Sajuuk-khar Karan Sjet, just as a new threat emerges from the Outer Rim, a dangerous warlord known as Ashoran, who claims to be nothing less than Qwaar-Jet incarnate. The following war is disastrous for the Kushan and Noreena is suddenly thrust into a command position. As the Ashoran War unfolds the Hiigarans are forced to ally with old enemies and embark on a search for the ultimate weapon, the Progenitor godship Qwaar-Jet.
The short stories written after the initial success of the main arc take place in the past and follow a young Makaan in his days prior to the Vaygr War. The first of these, Ambitions is a character piece from Makaan's perspective as he wishes longingly to rise through the ranks of the Vaygr to glory and prestige, unlikely as that seems at the time. The second, Hollow Victory, also from Makaan's details his recovery of the Second Core.
There was also a novel started by JRL3001 set in the Legacies continuity. Like the above short stories it is set in the past, following the rise of Iifrit Somtaaw-sa to his position as Somtaaw Fleet Command and the commanding officer of the Kuun-Lan. As of yet the novel is unfinished. It is also possible, although unconfirmed, that the story The Mothership Sails to Hiigara by Sajuuk's Thesis is part of the Legacies continuity as it and Legacies cross-reference one another in their stories. In addition the series has spawned much art, most from DeepChrome herself but also some from other arists such as Riess or Arioch.
This large amount of spin-off material can likely be attributed to the popularity of the series, which is probably the most respected fan fiction series currently in progress and has attained a status amongst fans about as great as that crobato's Kadeshi Crusade and White Beast held in earlier years. The series has even obtained praise from Relic Entertainment employee Buggo.
