The Magneto-Hydrodynamic Shunt Field was a field used in Phased Disassembler Arrays to separate constituent resources by their own atomic weight. The broken-down minerals were turned into a semi-liquid "slurry" and then passed through a magnetic field at a strictly controlled initial speed; depending on the atomic structure of each element in the slurry its path was altered from the field in a known trajectory. This allowed for quickly sorting the elements at the atomic level, where they were then transferred to storage cells.
