Progenitor Keepers were self-aware AI-controlled Progenitor combat ships built to guard Progenitor assets. Each Keeper was roughly the size of a destroyer and was armed with two sustained fire Ion Cannons and eight Pulsar Beams. Each Keeper could also construct and deploy Drones and project a defensive shield that protected itself against all conventional attacks.

When they were damaged, the Keepers would retreat by 'phasing out', and return later at close to full strength.

The Keeper of the Foundry was the Keeper guarding the Progenitor Dreadnaught. It attacked the Mothership fleet when it reached the Dreadnought Berth, formerly a section of the massive Progenitor Mothership. The Hiigarans could not destroy the Keeper with conventional weapons, so they captured it in a massive Progenitor Mothership power core, after which it self-destructed. The Mothership managed to jump to hyperspace just before the explosion.

The music played on the Keeper levels is actually a Sri Lankan chant.
It is unknown if the Doodad Dreadnaught Berth had a Keeper, Makaan might of been lucky to only see on of the Dreadnaughts. This Keeper was obviously destroyed or else it would of docked with the other Dreadnaught. So this may mean that the title of these Keepers should be "The Keepers of the Foundry"

[edit] The Keepers of Abassid

The Keepers of Abassid were a group of Keepers the Hiigaran fleet encountered in an unidentified region of the galaxy in the Great Wastelands. They pulled the Pride of Hiigara out of Hyperspace and attacked it and the Bentusi Harbor Ship. The Bentusi managed to repair the Dreadnought's Phased Cannon Array, but even it was not able to destroy the Keepers. With no way to win the battle and their role in the prophecy fulfilled, the Bentusi sacrificed themselves by destroying Bentus in a gigantic explosion, taking the Keepers with it.

Abassid is actually the medieval Caliphate Located in the Fertile Crescent, they used an array of mercenaries from all over the Middle east as well as terrible Abna spear men & Faris.
