Also "All articles should be written using British English" is the recipe for trouble. Consider this: Most of your contributors are probably unfamiliar with this language because US is the biggest country in the world and UK is the smallest. I myself don't know this language very well, but judging from what I see, you have a lot of unnecessary work on your hand. I suggest one article must use one English variant consistently but there should be no cross-article mandate. Articles developed primarily using one variant must keep using it.
That's actually a misconception.
Many of the countries which are taught English as a second language are actually taught British English, which makes it the most common form of English on the planet. American English is only used within the US, which means people are more likely to come here knowing British English. There's very little difference between the two, with "color" written as "colour" instead.
If you made an edit that used US English, it would be corrected anyway. I used to use a lot of American English on the internet, but I primarily use British English, since it's the most prevalent form of the English language.
Since we don't have a lot of articles, converting a lot of pages to use British English should not be an issue, especially as I believe several articles already use this format anyway. I also could be wrong, but I believe my fellow administrators also hail from the UK so they're already likely to be using that format in the first place.
I may start a discussion to decide which format is used though, so we can pick which one should be used. And feel free to correct me about the above if I'm not correct.
