Taiidan Tiifal-class Defense Field Frigate was the most unique and extraordinary aspect of Taiidan technology to put out in years. Inspired by the success of the Koshiir-Ra-class Defense Fighter the Tiifal uses the frigate hull and power plant to support a revolutionary defense field, far more advanced than the Koshiir-Ra’s defense laser.

The defense field is based on electromagnetic waves emitted from a generator in the bow of the ship. The defense field, which has a limited usage time must be recharged after running out of power. The EM field is strong but not strong enough to repel ion cannons. In addition, slow-moving ammunition like mines or missiles are also not repelled. Even so, the Tiifal is truly the most effective protection against strike craft attacks, despite its expense.

Tiifals are also used to take down enemy carriers or motherships, leading the assault fleet to the target and then protecting them from the carrier's main guns which, with the exception of the Lord-class Carrier's ion cannons, are unable to penetrate the Tiifal’s shield.
